The scoop on four types of labels

Labels name nets, which is why I consider the "power symbols" one of the types of labels--they'll rename any wire they touch to be part of that power net.  The other three types covered here are

• global -- as you know from "Great Schematics" I think use of these should be limited
• hierarchical -- these allow lots of greatness, which we'll see a lot more of soon
• plain label -- a great idea to label every wire, both to declare its intended use and to help you out down in the PCB
